Synertec Corporation Ltd has secured a position on Sydney Water’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Electrical Services Panel, further strengthening its presence in the Australian water sector. The appointment gives SOP access to approximately A$245 million in water-related project opportunities over the next five years, and aligns with the company’s broader water industry focus strategy.
Synertec’s role on the panel will involve the design and implementation of secure and efficient control systems to support the ongoing functionality and resilience of vital public infrastructure.
As one of a maximum of seven companies selected, Synertec joins a highly specialised group delivering operational technology solutions across Greater Sydney. The appointment also qualifies Synertec to provide services to Sydney Water’s Regional Delivery Partners, who are instrumental in delivering a A$34 billion infrastructure pipeline over the next decade.
The Regional Delivery Partners consist of:
- Confluence Water (Ventia, Downer Utilities and Jacobs) servicing Sydney Water’s North Region
- Delivering4Customers (John Holland, Service Stream and WSP) servicing Sydney Water’s South Region
- West Regional Delivery Team (Fulton Hogan Utilities, Abergeldie Contractors, Programmed Facility Management, Stantec and Atlas) servicing Sydney Water’s West Region.
- Services will span key technical domains including electrical engineering, instrumentation, control systems, SCADA architecture, and cyber security solutions, reflecting Synertec’s depth of expertise in automation and critical infrastructure technologies.

This is a significant, exciting strategic development that positions Synertec well into the future,” Synertec’s managing director, Michael Carroll, said.
The initial term of the engagement is three years, with the possibility of extension by mutual agreement.
Making waves across the country
This latest panel award adds to Synertec’s growing portfolio in the water technology sector, with similar appointments already secured in Victoria and Western Australia.
The NSW milestone involves an expansive program including maintenance and upgrades across Sydney Water’s critical assets, such as reservoirs, pumping stations and treatment plants—servicing over five million people across Sydney, the Blue Mountains and Illawarra.
Sydney Water is Australia’s largest water utility, providing essential services to a population of over five million. Its infrastructure spans 248 reservoirs, 152 drinking water pumping stations, 16 wastewater treatment plants, and more than 22,000 kilometres of water mains.
The SCADA and Electrical Services Panel is a key mechanism through which Sydney Water and its delivery partners manage, maintain, and upgrade this extensive network.
The appointment is another feather in SOP’s cap after it was appointed to Western Australia’s Water Corporation Process Control Technologies Panel in February 2025, securing a five-year term to deliver operational technology project and maintenance services across the state. Synertec will participate in a program expected to generate approximately A$50 million in services over the engagement period.
In Victoria, Synertec has maintained a longstanding relationship with Melbourne Water, having provided continuous engineering support since 2007. Its role includes 24/7 automation and control systems services, plant optimisation, and project management across multiple facilities within the Melbourne Water infrastructure network.
