Supermicro shares jump on $20B DataVolt deal

Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) shares moved higher after the announcement of a strategic partnership with Saudi Arabian data center company DataVolt.

The deal, valued at approximately $20 billion over multiple years, involves Supermicro supplying ultra-dense GPU platforms, storage, and rack plug-and-play systems for DataVolt's hyperscale AI campuses in Saudi Arabia and the US.

Supermicro will provide advanced AI and compute servers, networking, storage, racks, and cutting-edge liquid cooling technology that reduces power costs by up to 40% and lowers total cost of ownership by up to 20%

“Supermicro is thrilled to work together in this important effort to deliver significantly enhanced computing power for the next generation of AI infrastructure,” Supermicro CEO Charles Liang said in a statement.

“We are excited to collaborate with DataVolt to bring our advanced AI systems featuring the latest direct liquid cooling technology (DLC-2) powered by local renewable, sustainable, and net-zero green technology.”

Shares of SuperMicro added 4.5% at about $46 in the early afternoon on Friday.
