Boeing wins significant aircraft order from Qatar Airways

Boeing Co (NYSE:BA, ETR:BCO) has secured a significant aircraft order from Qatar Airways as part of broader economic commitments between the US and Qatar totalling $1.2 trillion, the White House announced on Wednesday.

Announced during US President Donald Trump’s official visit to Qatar, the nation will purchase from Boeing up to 210 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft powered by GE Aerospace engines.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg appeared alongside Trump in Doha for a signing ceremony.

The deal is valued at $96 billion, the White House said, although customers typically negotiate discounts on major deals.

This marks Boeing’s largest-ever widebody order and largest-ever 787 order, the Trump administration said.

No further details about the deal were provided.

Boeing shares moved higher on the news, adding 1.3% at about $206 in the early afternoon on Wednesday.
