Leeuwin Metals Ltd will accelerate Phase 2 drilling at Marda Central, part of its Marda Gold Project in Western Australia, after strong assay results returned significant, high-grade intersections confirming the potential for significant mineralised extensions.
The results come from a 2,000-metre reverse circulation (RC) program – Leewin’s maiden drill campaign at Marda Central – which has delivered multiple shallow, thick, high-grade gold hits. The company says the program has validated its geological model and uncovered exploration upside beyond the boundaries of a shallow historic open pit.
Notable intercepts include:
- 16 metres at 2 grammes per tonne (g/t) gold from 134 metres, and 8 metres at 3.04 g/t gold from 215 metres in hole MGRC0006
- 22 metres at 1.25 g/t gold from 123 metres, including 3 metres at 6.3 g/t gold and 8 metres at 1.01 g/t gold from 137 metres in MGRC0004
- 21 metres at 1.09 g/t gold from 98 metres, and 9 metres at 2.45 g/t from 190 metres in MGRC0003
- 6 metres at 1.26 g/t gold from 81 metres in MGRC0002
Leeuwin executive chairman Christopher Piggott described the assays as “an outstanding start” that demonstrates the depth and strike potential of the system.
“The results confirm our view that the mineralization at Marda Central continues beyond the shallow open pit,” Piggott said.
“Given the strength of these results, we are accelerating the Phase 2 drilling program to follow up results at Marda Central in the coming weeks, with planning well advanced and a drill rig secured,” he added.

Further testing, new drilling
Marda Central is part of Leeuwin’s 100%-owned Marda Gold Project, which Leeuwin acquired in late 2024. It covers a 3-kilometre trend with four existing pits, with mineralisation hosted in banded iron formations (BIF) and quartz veining with sulphide associations.
According to the company, the latest drill program targeted down-trip and strike extensions of known mineralisations within the granted mining lease at Marda Central. It confirmed broad zones of shallow, high grade gold, reinforcing Leeuwin’s plans to prioritise Marda Central for further drilling.

Ongoing work at Marda Central will focus on testing mineralised extensions along the BIF-hosted trend, where recent drilling has returned multiple high-grade intersections.
Beyond Marda Central, Leeuwin plans to build momentum across multiple gold targets within the broader Marda Gold Project. Drill planning is under way at the Evanston Project, about 50 kilometres to the north, where the company is targeting structurally hosted gold within a separate greenstone package. It anticipates drilling later in the 2025 field season.
While Leeuwin Metals is primarily focused on critical minerals such as lithium and nickel in Canada and Western Australia, the company sees gold as a strategic opportunity for drumming up near-term value.
