Northern Superior reports new high-grade gold discovery at Philibert

Northern Superior Resources Inc. (TSX-V:SUP, OTCQX:NSUPF) reported a new high-grade gold discovery at its Philibert project in Quebec, as part of a 20,000-metre expansion drilling campaign aimed at growing the resource base beyond the current pit shell.

The company said a drill hole, PB-25-484, intersected 2.48 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold over 18 metres, including 7.02 g/t over 4.9 metres, marking a new mineralized zone south and beneath the current resource area.

Additional holes returned broad intercepts beneath the existing resource pit, including 0.70 g/t gold over 50.3 metres and 0.48 g/t over 32.6 metres, with higher-grade subintervals in both.

"Today's results underscore the significant expansion potential at Philibert," said CEO Simon Marcotte. "Hole PB-25-484 marks a new high-grade discovery that opens the door for underground resource development."

The drilling also defined a new core area across a 400-metre strike length and 150- to 200-metre vertical depth outside the current pit boundary. The target, located between the Fennec Fox and Grey Fox zones, remains open along strike and at depth, the company said.

Vice president of exploration Adree DeLazzer said the intercept in hole PB-25-484 confirms that mineralization continues down-dip and becomes enriched at depths beyond 500 metres, providing “compelling targets for continued expansion.”

The Philibert project, located nine kilometres from IAMGOLD’s Nelligan project and 60 kilometres southwest of Chibougamau, is jointly owned by Northern Superior (75%) and SOQUEM (25%). The current resource includes 1.71 million ounces of gold in the inferred category and 279,000 ounces in the indicated category, both at an average grade of 1.1 g/t.

Northern Superior said it will continue testing high-priority targets as the drilling campaign progresses.
