Resource Mining Corporation set for further copper-gold exploration at Mpanda with sample analysis underway

Resource Mining Corporation Ltd has hit the laboratory to analyse soil and auger samples collected from its Stalike and Kabungu prospects, part of the ongoing exploration program at the Mpanda Copper-Gold Project in Tanzania.

Close to the processing plant

The program is focused on refining high-priority drill targets within the 1,056-square-kilometre project area, which is close to the operating Katavi copper-gold processing plant.

The current workstream integrates new sample data with previously reported results from auger drilling, trenching, rock chip and soil sampling.

Historical sampling at the Kabungu prospect has returned high-grade gold and copper values, including rock chip assays of 36.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold and 11.89% copper, 20.98 g/t gold and 4.36% copper, and 15.38 g/t gold and 10.44% copper.

At Stalike, assays included 13.58% copper and 3.24 g/t gold, and 10.78% copper with 1.41 g/t gold.

Reverse circulation (RC) drilling at Kabungu, particularly at hole MPRC0007, delivered promising intersections, including 4 metres at 2.5 g/t gold and 0.5% copper from 39 metres depth, and 2 metres at 0.5 g/t gold from 47 metres.

Additional exploration at Stalike included thirteen channel samples, with a highlight result of 5 metres at 1.13% copper from 8 metres depth, including 1 metre at 2.3% copper.

Target generation incoming

The laboratory analysis underway will inform target generation for future drilling as RMC advances its multi-phase exploration strategy.

The company views both prospects as high potential, given their proximity to existing infrastructure and the strong results it has already received.

Executive chair Asimwe Kabunga said: “Ongoing exploration activities at our highly prospective Mpanda Copper-Gold Project have produced some spectacular high grade results and they are helping the company define opportunities for exploitation of potential economic resources within our extensive tenement package.

“Our goal is to identify one or more significant copper-gold projects at Mpanda, and we have every confidence that we can achieve this.

“A targeted drilling program is planned for the Stalike and Kabungu prospects following completion of this current soil and auger sample analysis work stream.

“Mpanda is clearly a richly endowed mineralised system. The extensive number of small scale operations demonstrate that systematic, modern exploration has the potential to define larger scale copper-gold systems.”
