Highfield Resources Ltd has announced the immediate resignation of chief executive officer and managing director Ignacio Salazar.
Salazar, a seasoned executive in the international natural resources sector, joined the company in July 2020 as CEO and was appointed MD in July 2021. During his tenure, he played a pivotal role in advancing the company’s flagship Muga Potash Project in northern Spain.
Key milestones achieved under Salazar’s leadership include the granting of the Mining Concession in 2021, the ramp construction licence in Aragón in 2022, and the process plant construction licence in Navarra in 2023. He also oversaw the completion of initial site preparatory works and was instrumental in securing funding to progress the project.
“Ignacio has led the Company through a period of significant regulatory, financial, and operational complexity. During his tenure he has shown strong leadership and an unwavering dedication to the advancement of the Company’s Muga Project, Highfield Resources chairman, Paul Harris said.
"Ignacio has expressed his readiness to assist in transitioning and the Board would like to thank him for his valued contributions and wishes him well for his future endeavours."
Following Salazar’s departure, Highfield’s core leadership team, based in Pamplona, will continue to lead the development of the Muga Project and pursue strategic and financing initiatives under the direction of the Board.
The company remains in trading halt until its funding arrangements are released to the market.
