International Graphite Ltd took some important steps forward across its upstream and downstream operations during the March 2025 quarter – a period in which there was intensifying global demand for secure and traceable graphite supply chains.
Indeed, geopolitical developments dominated the quarter, with the US government pushing out executive orders focused on shoring up domestic and allied critical minerals capacity.
US government focus on critical minerals
The Trump administration’s “Immediate Measures to Increase American Mineral Production” executive order included incentives for downstream processing and financing for allied graphite projects, with Australia – exempted from new graphite tariffs – emerging as a key supplier.
The strategic shift underscores the importance of International Graphite’s Springdale Graphite Project and Collie downstream facilities in Western Australia.
The company also welcomed the Australian Government’s proposed A$1.2 billion critical minerals offtake fund, further supporting its vertically integrated mine-to-market strategy.
Collie micronising facility progresses
A Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) study confirmed the viability of a 4,000 tonnes per year micronised graphite facility at Collie.

With capital costs estimated at A$6.3 million, the project delivers a pre-tax net present value of A$25.8 million and a 43% internal rate of return.
The facility will process graphite for industrial and battery anode markets, and planning has commenced for potential capacity expansion.
Feasibility work at Springdale continues, supported by a successful bench-scale purification program in Japan, coordinated by trading house Marubeni Corporation.
Graphite concentrates returned up to 99.97% total graphitic carbon, meeting specifications for lithium-ion battery anodes.
Marubeni is exploring long-term supply arrangements and potential financial support under a non-binding memorandum of understanding.
Government support and outreach
International Graphite now has access to A$17.2 million in state and federal grant funding, with A$12.2 million remaining for key project works.
The company also expanded its stakeholder engagement during the quarter, increasing its profile at industry events and US investment roadshows to reinforce its role in the global battery supply chain.
Feasibility studies and project permitting for both Springdale and Collie remain on track.
