HeLIX Exploration PLC (AIM:HEX) earlier this week announced the completion of drilling at the Linda-1 well within the Rudyard field.
The company said helium gas shows encountered at the site were “incredible,” with Bo Sears, chief executive, stating that the results closely matched earlier findings at the Darwin-1 well.
It highlighted that drilling success has reduced development risk for the field.
Sears joined the Proactive studio to tell us more about the results.
Proactive: I'm joined by HeLIX Exploration PLC CEO Bo Sears. Congratulations on the completion of drilling at the Linda-1 well.
What do the helium gas shows mean for the future of the well?
Bo Sears: Thanks, Stephen. Yeah, we're really excited about this well. We had incredible shows, much like our previous well, the Darwin-1.
We couldn't be happier with the results. The structure is there. I think we are just now drilling development wells.
We have removed a great deal of risk with regards to production of this field and just couldn't be happier.
Proactive: Tell us a little bit about the oil shows. Does that have any impact on future helium production?
Bo Sears: It's a good problem to have when you have oil shows in the reservoir. This one in particular was incredible. Everyone was amazingly surprised. We had great cut out of the mud samples. We had good odor. We had fluorescence. We had all the markings of something quite nice.
So we're quite excited about that. We're going to take a further look.
Proactive: Does the completion of drilling at Linda-1 give any further indication to the development potential at Rudyard?
Bo Sears: Absolutely. As all of these wells become development wells, we can punch a lot more holes in this entire field.
Again, this field is getting bigger and bigger by the day or with each drill, rather.
I can't emphasize how great this result is.
Proactive: So Bo, what are the next steps for testing at Linda-1?
Bo Sears: Well, right now we have run logs and we have set casing. We’ve cemented the surface.
We are waiting on the workover unit to come and test these formations of interest. It's right around the corner.
