Kairos Minerals Ltd managing director Dr Peter Turner talked with Proactive about the company’s significant progress at its Mt York Project. He detailed the dramatic resource growth from 123,000 ounces in 2016 to 1.4 million ounces today. Turner confirmed the company is conducting an extensive 30,000-metre drilling campaign to further expand this resource base, with two rigs currently operating and a third expected to join by June.
Turner emphasised that while Mt York could be developed now based on the current resource, the goal is to unlock further upside. “We certainly believe that there's more gold to be found in that particular area,” he said. The company is targeting extensions of known mineralisation, including high-grade zones hit in late 2022, and new areas extending onto neighbouring Pilbara Minerals’ tenements.
Kairos has already secured rights to gold and base metals on Pilbara’s ground following a $20 million asset sale agreement in 2024. Final access is contingent on a full mineral rights agreement, which is currently at an advanced negotiation stage.
Financially, the company is well positioned, with $11.8 million in cash and another $10 million expected, allowing it to fully fund this phase of exploration and complete the pre-feasibility study—now targeted for early 2026.
