Market movers: Snap, Super Micro Computer, OKYO Pharma...

Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, ETR:FB2A, SWX:FB) delivered better-than-expected revenue and profits for the first quarter, sending shares of the Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp owner higher afterhours on Wednesday.

First quarter revenue was up 16% from the same periood last year at $42.31 billion, almost $1 billion higher than the $41.36 Wall Street consensus estimate.

Snap Inc (NYSE:SNAP) has withheld second quarter guidance, sending its shares more than 15% lower despite handing down a solid first quarter report.

For Q1, revenue grew 14% from the year-ago quarter to $1.36 billion, above estimates of $1.34 billion.

Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ:SMCI) shares plunged almost 16% after the high-performance server producer reported preliminary results for the fiscal third quarter below its earlier guidance.

The company now expects revenue for fiscal Q3, which ended March 31, in the range of $4.5 billion to $4.6 billion, down from its earlier guidance of $5 billion to $6 billion and about $1 billion below estimates of $5.5 billion at the midpoint.

Charbone Hydrogen Corporation (TSX-V:CH, OTCQB:CHHYF) saw its annual revenue rise 15% in 2024 as it progresses towards launching green hydrogen production at its Sorel-Tracy facility in 2025.

Revenue climbed to C$325,753 for the year ended December 31, 2024, up from C$282,724 in 2023, driven by continued contributions from its Wolf River hydroelectric operations.

OKYO Pharma Ltd (NASDAQ:OKYO) has announced plans to accelerate the clinical development of urcosimod, formerly called OK-101, to treat neuropathic corneal pain.

The company has chosen to end its Phase 2 trial being conducted at the Tufts Medical Center in Boston early, with 17 patients having completed the study.

GSK PLC (LSE:GSK, NYSE:GSK) shares rose 4% on Tuesday, adding £2.6 billion to its market value, after the drugmaker delivered better-than-expected first-quarter results and reiterated full-year guidance.

The FTSE 100 group reported core earnings per share of 44.9p, 10% ahead of consensus, thanks to stronger operating leverage and a robust margin of 33.7%. Sales rose 4% at constant exchange rates to £7.51 billion, just ahead of forecasts.

Shares in Nuformix (LSE:NFX) rose 16% on Wednesday after the company confirmed that European regulators had issued a positive opinion on orphan drug designation for its lead asset, NXP002, in the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).

The European Medicines Agency’s Committee for Orphan Medicinal Products concluded that NXP002, which delivers the anti-inflammatory drug tranilast via inhalation, has the potential to offer significant clinical benefit for patients with IPF - a rare and often fatal lung disease with limited treatment options.

Haleon PLC (LSE:HLN, NYSE:HLN) shares fell 1% after the toothpaste and painkillers maker reported slightly stronger first-quarter growth than expected but saw a weaker performance than expected from its vitamins, minerals and supplements (VMS) arm in America.

The FTSE 100 group posted a Q1 update showing 3.5% organic revenue growth, supported by positive contributions from all product categories and regions, beating an average City forecast of 3.3%.
