Abbvie Inc (NYSE:ABBV) shares moved higher after it reported strong results for the first quarter of 2025 and raised its full-year profit guidance.
The company now expects adjusted earnings per share (EPS) in the range of $12.09 to $12.29, up from its earlier guidance of $11.99 to $12.19.
For Q1, revenue grew 8.4% year-over-year to $13.34 billion, beating estimates of $12.92 billion.
Immunology revenue was up 16.6% at $6.26 billion. Skyrizi sales were up 70.5% and Rinvoq was up 57.2%, while Humira sales fell 50.6%, reflecting continued declines following the loss of exclusivity in the US.
Q1 EPS increased 6.5% from the year-ago quarter to $2.46, $0.06 ahead of estimates.
This included an unfavorable impact of $0.13 per share related to AbbVie's IPR&D acquisition and milestone expenses that occurred during the quarter.
"AbbVie's first-quarter results were well ahead of our expectations and reflect an excellent start to the year," AbbVie CEO Robert Michael said in a statement.
"The fundamentals of our business are strong and we continue to bolster our outlook with pipeline advancements and strategic investments. Based on the progress we are making, AbbVie is well positioned for the long term."
Shares of AbbVie traded up 5.2% at $189 shortly before US markets opened on Friday.
