Riversgold Ltd has intersected further high-grade gold mineralisation at its Kalgoorlie East Project, with recent aircore drilling at the Northern Zone continuing to validate and expand the extent of the find.
Just 25 kilometres east of Kalgoorlie, the project has now delivered its highest-grade gold assays to date from vertical aircore drilling.
Standout intersections
Results from the recently completed 32-hole, 1,805-metre program include standout intersections such as:
- 10 metres at 8.89 g/t gold from 46 metres, including 1 metre at 77.96 g/t gold;
- 7 metres at 3.14 g/t from 47 metres, including 1 metre at 18.35 g/t gold;
- 5 metres at 1.26 g/t from 46 metres, including 2 metres at 2.74 g/t gold;
- 2 metres at 11.97 g/t from 34 metres;
- 1 metre at 6.98 g/t from 50 metres; and
- 12 metres at 0.80 g/t from 32 metres.
A total of 414 samples from a further 11 drillholes are currently undergoing assay, with results expected in the near term.
The eastern extension of the mineralised zone continues to yield consistent mineralisation, with the majority of drillholes returning gold intercepts.
The results support the ongoing development of a 3D Leapfrog geological model that will inform future drilling and a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE).
Riversgold has drawn comparisons between the Northern Zone and Saturn Metals’ Apollo Hill Gold Project, 175 kilometres to the north, which hosts 2.03 million ounces at 0.53 g/t gold within a potential large-scale heap leach development scenario.
Low-cost, potential open-pit target
The company believes Northern Zone may have comparable or greater scale potential.
The Northern Zone is hosted within a porphyry system and is associated with shallow mineralisation, making it a potentially low-cost, open-pittable target.
Recent success by Black Cat Syndicate Ltd using a turn-key funding and processing model at their Myhree/Boundary pits, just 7 kilometres north, provides a conceptual development pathway for Riversgold to evaluate.
The updated gold model and drilling data are being integrated into the company’s exploration strategy as it advances Northern Zone toward a mining lease application.
Further drilling is already being planned to extend and define the mineralised system.
