Liberty Star talks strategic metals and supply - ICYMI

Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (OTCQB:LBSR) (dba Liberty Star Minerals) earlier this week shared an update on its strategic push to secure government backing for its critical minerals exploration activities in the United States.

Chairman Pete O’Heeron told Proactive that he recently visited Washington, D.C., where he met with congressional leaders to advocate for increased attention on domestic mineral discovery. O’Heeron said the current U.S. government focus is mainly on refining technologies rather than the identification of new sources. He stressed that locating these resources is the foundational step in developing secure supply chains.

“The company said it has an extraordinarily large multi-mineral footprint and believes it can help provide the next four to five generations of critical minerals,” O’Heeron told investors.

He warned that geopolitical tensions, particularly with China’s dominance in rare earths, present a national risk. O’Heeron cited a past diplomatic incident between China and Japan as evidence of how vital rare earth supply can influence global affairs.

Director Gerardo King joined the conversation to highlight current market conditions. He said investment banks are forecasting gold to reach US$3,050 in 2025, and that current processing levels are already touching US$3,200. Copper and other industrial minerals are also seeing strong upward pricing momentum.

King said, “This is an opportunity that is far from ending, but just scratching the surface.” He noted that the U.S. does not produce many critical assets and that Liberty Star Minerals aims to build a platform of American-controlled resources across the Americas.

Both executives underscored that Arizona’s 365-day mining season is a significant advantage over international locations such as Greenland. They believe Liberty Star is well-positioned to contribute to U.S. supply chain resilience, if adequate capital support is provided.

The company said it is focused on long-term growth and expects investment made now to begin yielding results over the next seven to eight years.
