SSV Capital making progress on all fronts with SmartPay set to log 2m transactions this year

SSV Capital PLC recently updated investors on its fintech and real estate business units as well as its evolving strategy for institutional capital engagement.

The company said it had repaid a £2.5 million convertible loan note, including accrued interest, ahead of the October 31 due date.

The repayment was completed and announced on April 4. CEO Ankur Ghosh highlighted that the move was made possible due to a strong balance sheet and ongoing investor confidence.

SSV is also expanding its payments platform, SSV Smart Pay. The company said it aims to reach 2 million transactions this year.

Loyalty and cashback schemes are being used to drive adoption. Open banking remains a central focus, and it noted that embedded finance solutions are also in development.

CEO Ghosh said merchant and customer feedback had been “very, very” positive. He added that former UBS CFO Clive Standish had joined the team to support scaling efforts.

In real estate, the company is developing a Proptech product which has completed alpha and beta testing. SSV Capital said a full rollout is expected in the next three to six months.

Looking ahead, the company said it had secured institutional interest with active commitments, not just letters of intent.

It is also moving forward with its plan to build an equity desk and has established itself as a general partner in Luxembourg. The firm said it is currently progressing through the Financial Conduct Authority's licensing process.
