Shares in OptiBiotix Health PLC (AIM:OPTI, OTC:OPBXF) jumped 10% in early trading on Tuesday after the company announced its first order from a major US weight management brand.
The AIM-listed life sciences group said the deal involves its hunger-reducing ingredient SlimBiome, which will be used in a new range of flavoured drinks. The formulation is similar to its SlimBiome Medical product and aims to tap into growing demand for natural appetite control options alongside the rise of anti-obesity drugs.
The order follows more than 18 months of collaboration, including human trials to support health claims around hunger and calorie reduction.
OptiBiotix expects a follow-up order for a tablet version of SlimBiome later this year. While the company didn’t name the brand, it said the launch is expected in the first half of 2025, though timelines depend on the partner’s rollout plans.
The shares rose 1.62p to 17.62p.
