Kraken, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has announced its expansion into commission-free trading for US-listed stocks and ETFs, marking a significant move beyond its traditional focus on digital assets.
The new offering includes over 11,000 stocks and ETFs and is initially available to clients in select US states such as New Jersey, Connecticut, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Idaho, Iowa, Rhode Island, Kentucky, Alabama, and the District of Columbia.
A phased national rollout is planned for broader access across the US.
“As demand for 24/7 global access grows, clients want a seamless, all-in-one trading experience,” Kraken co-CEO Arjun Sethi said.
“Expanding into equities is a natural step for us, and paves the way for the tokenization of assets. The future of trading is borderless, always on and built on crypto rails, and Kraken will continue to lead this shift.”
In the future, Kraken intends to expand stock trading internationally to markets in the United Kingdom, Europe, and Australia.
