Bit Digital Inc (NASDAQ:BTBT) said on Friday it has secured rights to a new data center site in Saint-Jérôme, Québec.

The new location will support a previously announced 5MW colocation agreement with Cerebras Systems, a developer of generative AI infrastructure.

Shares of Intel Corp (NASDAQ:INTC, ETR:INL) and Texas Instruments Inc (NASDAQ:TXN) slumped on Friday after China clarified that retaliatory tariffs on US goods would not apply to semiconductors manufactured outside the US, such as those made in Taiwan.

Intel dropped 3.5% and Texas Instruments tumbled nearly 6.7%, while ON Semiconductor slid 3.6%, as investors digested guidance from China’s main chip industry group suggesting that chips produced at US-based fabs would face steep new import duties.

Newmont Corporation (NYSE:NEM, TSX:NGT, ASX:NEM, ETR:NMM) shares moved higher after the gold producer was upgraded by UBS analysts citing a more supportive macro backdrop for gold, strong free cash flow outlook, and the potential for sustained shareholder returns.

The analysts upgraded the stock to ‘Buy’ from ‘Neutral’ and boosted their price target to $60 from $50.

Precious metals stocks led the FTSE 100 higher on Friday, with Endeavour Mining PLC (LSE:EDV, TSX:EDV, OTCQX:EDVMF) and Fresnillo PLC (LSE:FRES) the top risers, after gold surged to a fresh all-time high.

The precious metal was trading at $3,219.93 an ounce by midday, driven by renewed investor appetite for safe-haven assets amid market turbulence triggered by US trade policy.
