Standard Uranium Ltd (TSX-V:STND, OTCQB:STTDF) Vice President of Exploration Sean Hillacre talked with Proactive about the company’s new partnership with Fleet Space Technologies Canada, ahead of a return to its flagship Davidson River project.
Hillacre described how the collaboration will deploy ambient noise tomography (ANT), a passive seismic technique, alongside ground gravity data collection, to refine drill targeting.
Proactive: Welcome back inside our Proactive newsroom. Joining me now is Sean Hillacre. He is the Vice President of Exploration for Standard Uranium. And Sean, good to see you again. How are you?
Sean Hillacre: Doing well. Thanks for having me.
The company is out with news today talking about a partnership you've signed with Fleet Space Technologies Canada. This is an interesting one. Tell me a little bit about it — this will be utilized at Davidson River, right?
That's right. We're finally getting back to Davidson River this year. We're really excited about it. We've been building this relationship with Fleet Space over the last 4 to 6 months. They've got a pretty exceptional team and have been a popular subject in the Athabasca Basin. They're using their ambient noise tomography technique and applying it to uranium exploration in the basin — which is relatively new.
We're really happy to announce that they are now invested in Standard and believe in Davidson River like we do. There's strong discovery potential there, and we’re excited to push it forward together.
Maybe you can explain the technology and how it works. That’s key to understanding what you're trying to achieve.
Sure. We've been exploring Davidson River for a number of years. The company was built around that project — it’s our flagship for a reason. We’re in the southwest corner of the Athabasca Basin, next to NexGen Energy, Paladin Energy, and F3 Uranium — some of the big players.
We’ve seen encouraging results — the right rock types, the right structures — and we're looking for the next Arrow-type discovery. So, we wanted to throw everything we could at it to really vector in and spend each dollar wisely. That’s where Fleet Space comes in.
This technology is essentially a passive seismic technique. It images the subsurface using sound waves and gives you a velocity model. With Fleet Space's dedicated satellite network, it enables real-time data collection and model building.
The big kicker here is we’re doing their new multiphysics survey. That includes the ANT survey along with ground gravity data. We can use the ANT data to correct for terrain and cover sequences to image density anomalies in the basement. That’s how Arrow was discovered — a density low with a broken EM conductor. Now we can try to image those same features directly and guide our drilling.
So the survey happens in spring, and you're focusing on Warrior, Bronco, and Thunderbird? Are those the top targets?
Yes, there are four main conductors on the project. Warrior, Bronco, and Thunderbird are our focus. The survey grids are being targeted based on our best results to date.
