Liberty Star Uranium & Metals Corp. (OTCQB:LBSR) (dba Liberty Star Minerals) chairman Pete O’Heeron met with members of Congress in Washington, DC this week to urge more US government support for exploring and developing critical minerals.
O’Heeron spoke with staff from Texas Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, along with Representatives Brian Babin and Paul Gosar, to highlight how important minerals like copper, lithium, and rare earth elements are for national security, energy independence, and new technology.
“The United States is at a critical juncture in ensuring the security of its supply chain for critical minerals,” O’Heeron said in a statement. “We can no longer afford to rely on foreign nations for the materials that power everything from smartphones to fighter jets.”
He added that Liberty Star, which is developing the Hay Mountain Project in southeastern Arizona, is ready to contribute to domestic supply chain solutions and called on the federal government to lead in funding and incentivizing mineral exploration.
Liberty Star is targeting a range of high-demand strategic metals vital to the clean energy and defense sectors.
