Sulnox Group PLC (AQSE:SNOX) told investors that Colas Rail UK, a rail freight operator, will use the company’s Sulnox Eco fuel conditioner across its fleet.
It follows the successful evaluation of the fuel conditioner for use in diesel-powered tampers and locomotives. This sees over 10 million litres of diesel used by Colas Rail UK annually.
"Cutting emissions is vital for rail's future, and these trials prove that Sulnox Eco delivers significant reductions while improving fuel efficiency,” Colas Rail’s head of energy and carbon, Dan Ditri said.
“It's a seamless, high-impact solution that helps our locomotives and on track machines burn fuel more effectively, run cleaner, and generate substantial cost savings."
The evaluations were carried out in 2024 in partnership with A&S International and verified by third-party emission specialists, and, showed a 4.5% improvement in fuel efficiency and significant emissions reductions.
In the tests, emissions demonstrated 63.2% less carbon monoxide, 47.5% less sulphur oxide, and, particulate matter dropped by over 30%.
