Nuformix jump 25% on new data that burnishes potential of its lead asset

Shares in Nuformix (LSE:NFX) jumped 25% in early trading on Wednesday after the company reported encouraging new findings from earlier studies of its experimental lung disease treatment, NXP002.

The updated analysis used lung tissue from patients with two serious conditions, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and autoimmune interstitial lung disease (ILD), both of which currently have limited treatment options.

The study re-examined how the drug-affected markers linked to scarring and inflammation in damaged lung tissue.

The results showed that NXP002 had a clear and consistent effect in reducing harmful biological signals, both on its own and when combined with existing treatments.

It appeared to dampen activity in overactive fibrotic tissue without interfering with healthy tissue repair — a balance that could prove important in treating these complex lung conditions.

The findings have strengthened Nuformix’s position in discussions with potential partners as it seeks to license and further develop the treatment.

In early trading, the shares were up 0.03p at 0.15p.
