Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has announced a temporary halt on shipments of its luxury vehicles to the United States in response to the recent implementation of a 25% tariff on foreign cars entering the country by president Donald Trump.
The British automaker, owned by Indian multinational group Tata Motors, has suspended vehicle shipments for the month of April.
JLR stated that the pause would allow time to assess the new trading conditions and formulate mid- to long-term strategies.
The company highlighted the importance of the US market for its luxury brands, including popular models like the Range Rover Defender and Range Rover Sport.
JLR relies entirely on exports for its US sales, as it does not operate any production facilities in the country.
The US accounts for nearly a quarter of its global sales, with approximately 38,000 vehicles exported to the US during the fourth quarter of 2024.
