Narf Industries PLC (LSE:NARF) shares soared some 80% higher in Friday's early deals after it told investors it will launch its first commercial product, Social Cyber, this summer.
Social Cyber intends to target the threat of compromised open-source software, Nerf highlighted. And it is expected to be ‘the foundation’ of the firm’s move into ‘the software supply chain security market’.
Narf chief executive Steve Bassi said Social Cyber will be the first of many Narf tools to tackle open source software threats, “where attacks have surged by over 700% in the past three years."
The firm, which was supported by $4 million of US government development funding, noted that its internal use of Agentic AI and small LLM models had helped speed development and reduce its reliance on third-party partners.
"A year ago, we believed partnering with an AI specialist would be essential to stay competitive,” Bassi said in a statement.
“But our direct work with the latest Agentic AI and LLM tools has proven otherwise, expert teams like ours can now deliver advanced capabilities that once required significant investment and headcount.
“This hands-on success allowed us to move beyond AI-first partnerships and instead focus on aligning with cybersecurity industry leaders who offer direct market access and platform synergy.”
In London, Narf shares were up 81.5% changing hands at 0.59p.
