New Future PLC (LSE:FUTR) chief executive Kevin Li Ying has outlined plans to evolve the publisher's existing strategy with a sharper focus on efficiency, innovation and delivering value to audiences and advertisers, according to Panmure Liberum.
Following a meeting with new CEO and CFO Sharjeel Suleman, analyst Johnathan Barrett said the publisher of The Week, FourFourTwo, Country Life and Metal Hammer would continue to prioritise quality commercial content, first-party data and a lean operating model.
The 'GAS' plan launched by previous management will remain central, though the company is expected to adopt a more aggressive and efficient approach to execution.
Editorial investment has "paid off" under GAS and Future plans to focus investment on "properly considered and planned bets".
Li Ying and Sulemamm highlighted the importance of a "growth mindset" and a willingness to adapt quickly to market changes, with AI products for example are currently being tested and an update to the company’s Aperture platform underway.
The CEO will travel to the US regularly as part of efforts to oversee the region, while the company searches for a new global chief revenue officer.
GoCo, the price comparison business that runs GoCompare, has seen platform improvements but lags peers on loyalty and membership.
The analyst noted that Future has left the door open on a potential spin-off or disposal, having bought the business in 2021.
