Empyrean Energy PLC (AIM:EME) announced it will carry out a Drill Stem Test over a potential oil zone in the Wilson River-1 well.
The zone was identified through log analysis and hydrocarbon shows.
Joint venture partners in the project are now refining testing and well completion plans, and obtaining quotes for the work.
Testing is scheduled to begin in late April. Depending on results, the JV may consider an extended production test.
Other zones of interest are still undergoing petrophysical analysis and comparison to regional producing wells.
“We are pleased to say that the main potential oil zone will be tested by DST as soon as is practicable,” chief executive Tom Kelly said in a statement.
“We look forward to providing shareholders with further updates as our plans progress".
