There were a lot of energy stocks in the news today as the oil price remained above US$65.
Kicking things off with Nostra Terra Oil & Gas (LON:NTOG) which has dipped another toe into new ventures in the South Texas region ffter it agreed to take a 1% interest in the San Miguel prospect
It is said to have similar characteristics as the Don Pedro project, where last month the company also acquired a 1% stake.
Meanwhile, Union Jack Oil (LON:UJO) executive chairman David Bramhill told investors the future of the company looks bright.
Bramhill highlighted the success of the Wressle discovery where an extended well testing programme will get underway soon.
Elsewhere, Tethys Petroleum (LON:TPL) is exploring a larger financing packing with AGR Energy to follow the US$7.5mln convertible loan deal agreed Friday.
The company recently launched a review of its business after a proposed sale of its Kazakh assets fell through.
Similarly, Sound Oil (LON:SOU) has today confirmed the details of a proposed share sale to existing investors.
Last month the company revealed it would raise £12mln through a placing of new shares to a major backer, and also said a separate open offer would be extended to existing shareholders.
Bahamas Petroleum (LON:BPC) reached a deal with the government which sees the current exploration licence extended until the second quarter of 2018. The explorer will also now have until April 2017 to begin drilling operations.
In other news, TomCo Energy (LON:TOM) was dealt a blow when Questerre Energy Corporation announced it has delayed the commercialisation of EcoShale technology, that Tomco had hoped to use, by two years.
In mining news, Sirius Minerals (LON:SXX) unveiled further positive findings in Brazil from its on-going global crop study into the use of its polyhalite product on potatoes and tomatoes.
The country provides 66% of the fruit for the US$4.79bn South American tomato market and 22% of the US$6bn South American potato crop.
Tower Resources (LON:TRP) chief executive Graeme Thomson said it is exploring several opportunities to develop its project portfolio further.
