Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META, ETR:FB2A, SWX:FB) has unveiled a new feature on Facebook known as the “Friends” tab as part of its efforts to bring back the original (OG) Facebook experience.
This tab is designed to show users content only from their friends, excluding algorithm-driven recommended content.
The feature includes posts, stories, reels, birthdays, and friend requests, aiming to enhance user engagement and connections by simplifying how users discover content shared by their friends.
“Social media should feel social. In that spirit, we’ll be adding more fun, simple experiences to help you connect and share on Facebook throughout the year,” Meta said in a blog post.
The tab is initially available in the United States and Canada.
Meta plans to introduce more “OG” features throughout 2025.
Shares of Meta were down 2.9% by midday Friday, reflecting a broader selloff in tech stocks.
