Incanthera will focus on luxury Skin + Cell line in commercial push

Incanthera PLC (AQSE:INC) is focusing its full attention on its high-margin luxury skincare line, investors were told in a commercial update setting out its near-term priorities.

The AQSE-listed company, which has roots in oncology and dermatology innovation, said that it will prioritise commercialising its Skin + Cell brand, over further developing its pharmaceutical programme targeting conditions such as solar keratosis and melanoma.

Finished products are already in stock and ready for distribution, according to the company. Talks are underway with prospective partners in multiple regions, although no launch dates or deals have been disclosed.

While Incanthera has built its brand around medical science (and still retains ambitions in that space) monetising a luxury skincare line offers quicker cash flow and potentially lower regulatory hurdles. In the beauty sector, where brand and margins often outweigh clinical claims, time to market is everything.

To clear the path, Incanthera has mutually terminated its licensing and development deal with Limeway Pharma Design.

The original 2018 agreement had focused on developing SOL, a pharmaceutical formulation aimed at treating pre-cancerous sun damage. The split allows both parties to pursue their own pharma projects independently, with cross-licensing of relevant patents agreed on a royalty-free basis.

Incanthera can still revive SOL in future, but the current focus is firmly commercial. With beauty and skincare continuing to defy broader retail trends, and high-end wellness products enjoying premium pricing,

Skin + Cell could prove a smart play, especially if it draws on the company’s medical credentials to stand out in a crowded market.

"Given the market interest shown in Skin + Cell and the short lead time for product distribution, the company is focusing its attention on monetising Skin + CELL its luxury skincare range of products ahead of development of its pharmaceutical Sol programme which targets the treatment of skin solar keratosis and prevention of skin melanoma," investors were told in a statement.
