SolGold chief departs following exploration manager

SolGold’s (LON:SOLG) chief executive Alan Martin has left the group with immediate effect, the copper explorer announced today.

Executive director Nick Mather has taken over as interim chief executive until the company finds a replacement for Martin.

Mather, who has an 11% stake on SolGold, was the company’s chief executive between 2005 to 2011 and has recently been on site in Ecuador at key prospect Cascabel to overview the exploration activities and forward plans.

Mather will continue to be responsible for strategic planning, capital management and investor liaison, while the remaining management team will carry on exploration evaluation and other parts of the business.

SolGold has drilled ten holes so far on the Cascabel prospect in Ecuador and recently began work on the eleventh with an update from this expected shortly.

Last week, SolGold announced that exploration manager Bruce Rohrlach had left.

His role has been split between Steve Garwin will take on the duties of Chief Technical Advisor while Jason Ward will become exploration manager in addition to his role as country manager.
