Nigel Farage and NatWest Group PLC (LSE:NWG) have settled their dispute over the closure of his Coutts bank account.
A joint statement said: "NatWest Group and Nigel Farage MP are pleased to confirm that they have resolved and settled their dispute and the bank has apologised to Mr Farage. The terms of settlement are confidential.”
The row began in 2023 when Farage claimed that Coutts, owned by NatWest, shut his account without explanation.
A BBC report said he no longer met Coutts’ wealth threshold. But Farage later revealed internal documents suggesting his political views played a role.
NatWest admitted “serious failings” and apologised. The scandal led to the resignation of CEO Dame Alison Rose in July 2023.
Farage said seven other banks later refused to give him accounts.
An independent review found the closure was legal but poorly communicated.
