Green360 Technologies Limited (ASX:GT3) and joint venture (JV) partner PERMAcast have successfully commissioned a chemical handling plant as part of a planned low carbon concrete demonstration plant upgrade.
With this first stage in place, the company will soon move to complete the second stage of the plant upgrade, having already complete the engineering design for the dry material handling plant.
The JV expects to complete commissioning of this second upgrade stage in the second quarter of the 2025 calendar year, after which – following some other minor upgrades – the plant will be capable of producing 2 cubic metres of cement free, low-carbon concrete per hour.
Designed for future scalability
“The upgrades that are being implemented to our batching plant will allow for a greater degree of production accuracy in our cement free, low carbon concrete,” Green360 executive chair Aaron Banks said.
“This is a pivotal step in the pathway towards commercialisation.
“This plant upgrade will ensure more consistent performance and quality of our low carbon mix designs aligning with our goal of providing quality, environmentally friendly precast concrete building products.
“The batching plant has been designed to seamlessly accommodate future scalability which would allow the plant to produce low carbon concrete at increased quantities, which is timely as the joint venture company is now actively quoting jobs.”
The plant upgrade represents a key milestone for the JV, enabling the production of a consistent and reliable concrete product.
GT3’s product is of particular interest to decarbonisation efforts, as it uses leftover materials from industrial processes that are often considered unwanted by-products that need to be managed or disposed of.
Incorporating them into low-carbon concrete removes the need for cement, which is one of the largest industrial polluters responsible for about 8% of global carbon emissions, while also removing unwanted elements from the environment.
