Frontier IP Group PLC (AIM:FIPP) said its portfolio is “maturing nicely” as several investee companies made significant progress during the second half of 2024, despite challenging conditions for early-stage technology firms and AIM-quoted stocks.
The intellectual property commercialisation group pointed to strong operational momentum across its holdings, including major equity raises, government-backed collaborations, and technical milestones.
The activity, it said, brings potential portfolio exits a step closer, though timing may still be shaped by wider market conditions.
Notable developments include a €25 million post-period raise by 2D Photonics, a spin-out of CamGraPhIC, with backing from institutions including CDP Venture Capital, Sony and NATO.
Pulsiv launched what it believes is the world’s most efficient 65W USB-C charger design, while GraphEnergyTech secured £1 million from Aramco Ventures and entered a solar collaboration backed by Innovate UK.
Despite booking a £1.6 million pre-tax loss, Frontier’s cash position strengthened to £3.6 million at year-end following a £3.3 million fundraising in December. The fair value of its investments was static at £33.2 million.
"These results represented a resilient performance in the face of a very difficult market environment, particularly for AIM-quoted and early-stage technology companies," said CEO Neil Crabb.
"I am delighted and grateful that shareholders and new investors backed our fundraising, which means we are in a good position to meet our working capital requirements and to provide strategic support where necessary for our portfolio companies."
