Trust Stamp secures patent for new biometric security technology

T Stamp Inc (NASDAQ:IDAI, EURONEXT:AIID) (dba Trust Stamp) announced the approval of a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for its "Shape Overlay for Proof of Liveness" mechanism, a new advancement in biometric security.

The technology addresses growing concerns over digital fraud techniques, particularly deepfake and injection attacks, which have posed significant security risks to traditional biometric authentication systems.

Trust Stamp's solution uses an interactive challenge-response mechanism to verify the liveness of a person during remote authentication.

The system requires users to interact with randomly generated shape overlays on their smartphone screens, ensuring real-time verification without the need for specialized hardware.

“The rise of deepfake technology poses a significant threat to biometric security, and our solution provides an additional line of defense,” said Andrew Gowasack, Trust Stamp’s president, in a statement.

“By incorporating interactive liveness verification, we make biometric authentication far more resilient against injection attacks and fraudulent access attempts.”

Highly adaptable solution

Dr. Norman Poh, chief science officer of Trust Stamp, told investors that the solution “offers a highly adaptable challenge-response mechanism that can be implemented on any smartphone, regardless of make or budget.”

“By eliminating the need for specialized hardware, we ensure that robust biometric security is available to everyone,” Poh said.

Trust Stamp continues to develop solutions in AI-powered biometric authentication, focusing on improving security and accessibility in response to the growing threat of digital fraud.
