Galileo Resources drilling confirms extensions to Shinganda project

Galileo Resources PLC (AIM:GLR) revealed it has extended the scope of the Shinganda Project in Zambia with its Phase 3 drilling programme.

The results are sufficiently positive that the company will now begin planning Phase 4.

In Phase 3, Galileo completed 30 reverse circulation holes, for a total of 2,213 metres, plus three diamond drill holes covering 310 metres.

Drilling focused on the Shinganda Splay Fault and Main Fault zones, and it confirmed copper-gold mineralisation potentially extended over a 350-metre by 150-metre area.

Assay highlights included 22 metres at 0.34% copper from 18 metres depth in hole SHRC010.

Ground conditions hampered core and sampling recoveries in some areas, Galileo noted.

Describing the geology, chief executive Colin Bird commented: "The drill programmes have confirmed the presence of mineralised dilation zones confined to the hematite-rich lithological unit associated with the Shinganda Splay.

“A better understanding of the scale of mineralisation will in time require further drilling both along strike to pick up the individual mineralised lenses and to test the full extent of each dilation zone.

More than half of the Shinganda Splay structure remains untested, Galileo highlighted.

The upcoming Phase 4 programme will target structural trap sites in the Main Fault zone.

“We will provide shareholders with updates as the programme develops with work planned to commence once the rainy season is over and access is again possible,” Bird added.
