Oriole Resources PLC (AIM:ORR) told investors it has decided to use ‘fire assaying’ for the gold analysis at its Mbe project in Cameroon, following a study.
This move will save costs (about $10 per sample) and a faster turnaround for results, whilst providing statistically comparable results, Oriole said.
"The outcome of the study into the best assaying method to use at our Mbe project shows a clear-cut preference, based on positive technical, cost and reporting timeliness benefits, for fire assaying at Bureau Veritas in Côte d'Ivoire,” chief executive Martin Rosser said in a statement.
“In the meantime, maiden drilling of the MB01-S target is progressing well, with over 2,500 metres now completed and with the next results expected in the second quarter."
Oriole noted that seven drill holes have been completed at the MB01-S target, with an eighth in progress – and, fire assay results for the first four holes returned more than 60 gold mineralised intervals.
Highlighted results included intercepts of 29.75 metres at 0.88 grams per tonne of gold (g/t Au), including 17.30 metres at 1.35g/t Au from hole MBDD002, and 4.24 metres at 8.12g/t Au, including 1.72 metres at 19.08g/t Au from hole MBDD003.
