Dynamic Metals Ltd has wrapped up the first phase of reverse circulation (RC) drilling at the Cognac West prospect, part of the Widgiemooltha Project in Western Australia, where the company has generated multiple gold targets.
Key milestone
Managing director Karen Wellman said: “The completion of our first phase of RC drilling at Cognac West marks a key milestone in our systematic exploration approach.
“With multiple high-grade gold anomalies identified through geochemistry, we are excited to see how the upcoming assay results will further shape our understanding of this highly prospective area.”
Up to 75 drill holes are planned to be drilled across Anomaly A and Anomaly B at Cognac West, over the course of several exploration campaigns.
A total of 32 angled RC holes were drilled to a depth of 150 metres during this part of the program, with 4,800 metres drilled across Anomaly A and Anomaly B, with 14 holes drilled at Anomaly A and 18 holes across Anomaly B.
The drill program was guided by large soil sampling anomalies and previously reported high-grade rock chip samples, including results such as 2,040 g/t gold in sample DM1007, 53.1 g/t gold in DM1010, 8.95 g/t gold in DM1008 and 3.27 g/t gold in sample DYM2424091006.
Below-surface mineralisation
The drilling was set up to test for gold mineralisation beneath the surface, improve geological understanding of the area and refine targeting methods for future exploration campaigns.
Initial samples are four-metre composites for cost and production efficiencies and where anomalous gold grades are detected, more detailed sampling at one-metre intervals will be conducted.
This first part of the drill program is expected to significantly increase the understanding of the fresh rock geology of the prospect area and further refine the drill targets for gold mineralisation.
Assay results from four-metre composite samples are expected by mid-April 2025. Drilling is scheduled to resume at the end of April 2025.
Accelerating efforts
“We look forward to refining our exploration model and accelerating our efforts in the next phase of drilling,” Wellman said.
The Cognac West prospect is a structurally complex area close to a late felsic intrusion, about 500 metres east of the regional Republican Thrust.
Historical exploration dating back to the 1970s included soil sampling and shallow drilling, though much of the data is incomplete and limited to gold assays. A standout historical result includes 1 metre at 91.3 g/t gold from 41 metres in hole JSA0252.
In 2024, Dynamic Minerals conducted a detailed soil sampling program, identifying three gold anomalies above 0.025 parts per million (ppm), with follow-up sampling revealing higher-grade zones exceeding 0.1 ppm.
Geological mapping and rock sampling further supported the presence of significant gold mineralisation, returning assays up to 2,040 g/t, 53.1 g/t and 8.95 g/t.
These results have been integrated into a geological model to define multiple RC drill targets at Anomaly A and Anomaly B.
