Livium Ltd, through its wholly owned subsidiary Envirostream Australia Pty Ltd, has entered into a three-year exclusive agreement with global power tool manufacturer Hilti (Aust.) Pty Ltd to recycle its returned Fleet Management batteries in Australia.
The agreement will start on April 1, 2025 is a significant step in Livium’s strategy to broaden its recycling material supply chain and expand access to end-of-life lithium-ion batteries across multiple sectors.
The company will receive rebates through the Battery Stewardship Council’s B-Cycle program and earn service fees from Hilti for collection, sorting and recycling services.
The collaboration strengthens Livium’s commercial position while reinforcing its commitment to responsible battery recycling and circular economy practices.
“We appreciate the trust shown by Hilti to recycle their Fleet Management lithium-ion batteries on an exclusive basis. We see this as further validation of the service we provide to enable manufacturers, like Hilti, to meet their goals in product stewardship,” Livium CEO and managing director, Simon Linge said.
“Hilti’s willingness to ensure that the recycling of their consumer batteries are paid for in full through a service fee and the B-Cycle rebate scheme is testament to Hilti’s ESG credentials. It also demonstrates the means to make consumer battery recycling economically sound.

Stable and scalable
Hilti’s Fleet Management model offers businesses a service-based alternative to traditional tool ownership, incorporating maintenance, repairs and battery replacement under a fixed fee structure.

Through this agreement, Livium secures a stable and scalable source of used batteries from the power tool sector, complementing its existing contracts across e-mobility and energy storage industries.
“Hilti has laid the foundations for a functioning circular economy in the power tool market segment through its Fleet Management leasing service. Viable spare parts are harvested from collected Fleet Management tools and the balance of materials are recycled,” Hilti Codes & Approvals (Firestop) / WHS Manager, Martin Stirling said.
“Now, to complete the tool end-of-life process, all ex-Fleet Li-Ion batteries are responsibly recycled onshore in Australia through our partner Envirostream.”
While the agreement is exclusive, it does not include minimum volume commitments, and Livium has indicated it is currently unable to quantify the potential economic impact. Nonetheless, the deal enhances Livium’s ability to support nationwide battery diversion from landfill and improve the efficiency of hazardous waste recovery.
