Candel Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:CADL) announced that it has partnered with IDEA Pharma to advance the commercialization of its lead immunotherapy candidate CAN-2409.
The collaboration follows positive Phase 3 data showing CAN-2409 significantly improved disease-free survival in patients with intermediate-to-high-risk localized prostate cancer.
Patients treated with CAN-2409 saw disease recurrence reduced by 30% and an increased pathological complete response rate to 80.4% compared to 63.6% in the placebo group.
BLA submission ahead
IDEA Pharma, a division of SAI MedPartners, will provide strategic guidance throughout CAN-2409’s development and commercialization, leveraging its expertise in oncology market strategies.
“This strategic partnership with IDEA comes at a critical time as we prepare for our BLA submission for CAN-2409 in prostate cancer and advance our broader pipeline across multiple indications,” Candel CEO Dr Paul Peter Tak said in a statement.
“By leveraging IDEA's commercial expertise, we can combine our expertise focused on building a robust commercialization strategy to help bring our potentially transformative treatments, once approved, to patients who need them.”
Mike Rea, IDEA CEO, expressed enthusiasm about working with Candel citing CAN-2409’s “compelling” clinical results across multiple solid tumors.
“Our approach provides Candel with the commercial expertise needed to maximize the value of its assets, while Candel continues to lead the overall commercial strategy,” Rea said.
The partnership is set to continue through 2026.
