The Tanbreez Project is continuing to meet European Lithium Ltd’s high expectations, with historical deep diamond drilling at the Tanbreez Project in Greenland revealing high-grade total rare earth oxides (TREO).
“It’s exciting to report on the outstanding assay results from historical deep drilling which may confirm high-grade, high tonnage potential that extends a lot deeper than was originally expected for the Tanbreez Project,” executive chair Tony Sage said.
Interest from Western Governments
“After recently announcing the MRE of ~45MT of REE’S @ 0.38% and other rare earth metals, the highly experienced team we have recently assembled, is moving quickly to measure the true potential of the Tanbreez Project that is also gaining significant interest from Western Governments.
“The team is now working through more of the historical data (which contains over 400 holes and 366,000 samples) of which most have never been made public.
“Some of this data is over 22 years old, so by using modern technology to decipher the $45 million of expenditure spent by Greg Barnes, it will add significant value to Tanbreez Project’s long term success.”
Continuous mineralisation
The results confirm continuous mineralisation, with TREO grades up to 0.44% and significant heavy rare earth element (HREE) content.
Drill hole DX-01, drilled to 338 metres, returned 0.42% TREO, including 24.45% HREE, along with 2.45% zirconium oxide (ZrO₂), 73 parts per million (ppm) tantalum pentoxide (Ta₂O₅), 1174 ppm niobium pentoxide (Nb₂O₅) and 103ppm gallium oxide (Ga₂O₃).
Drill hole D7-14, drilled to 243 metres, delivered 0.44% TREO with 28% HREE, alongside 1.78% zirconium oxide, 83ppm tantalum pentoxide (Ta₂O₅), 1496ppm niobium pentoxide and 351ppm hafnium oxide (HfO₂).
These findings align with European Lithium’s recent 2024 drilling results, including hole A1-24, which intersected 0.47% TREO over 40 metres from surface.
Future drilling and market outlook
European Lithium will prioritise drilling at the Hill Zone, extending known mineralisation to depths of 250–300 metres and confirming the historical drilling results.
A second phase will focus on infill drilling between DX-01 and D7-14 over a 1,037-metre strike length, while a third phase will target extensions at the Fjord Deposit.
European Lithium is also conducting a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) to evaluate the project’s long-term potential.
Further resource expansion is planned, with the 2025 drill program targeting deeper mineralisation.
With the West increasingly prioritising rare earth supply chain security, Tanbreez’s high HREE content, low uranium levels and strategic location position it as a critical asset.
Expanding ownership
European Lithium holds a 7.5% direct interest in Tanbreez, alongside its subsidiary Critical Metals Corp (NASDAQ: CRML), which has secured a 42% stake and plans to increase its holding to 92.5%.
The company recently announced a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) of 45 million tonnes (MT) at 0.38% TREO, with 27% heavy rare earth oxides.
