Bytes Technology shares jump as update 'puts fears to rest'

Bytes Technology Group PLC (LSE:BYIT, JSE:BYI) shares jumped 14% as it issued a full-year trading update that analysts said "puts fears to rest" after a share dealing misconduct investigation into former CEO Neil Murphy last year and a change in Microsoft incentive plans.

Gross profit is expected to have grown 12% in the financial year ended 28 February, well ahead of the City consensus of 9.2%.

The Microsoft reseller pointed out that the results include two full months of trading under the updated Microsoft incentive plan.

"We are well positioned to unlock the growth opportunities associated with this change, backed by our long track record of successfully adapting to such shifts in our vendor programmes," the FTSE 250-listed company said.

Adjusted EBIT growth was said to be in "the mid-to-high teens", which analysts at Peel Hunt said implied over 20% profit growth in the second half of the year.
