HIVE Digital Technologies (TSX-V:HIVE, NASDAQ:HIVE) has appointed Gabriel Lamas as its Country President for Paraguay, the company announced on Monday, as it expands its high-performance computing and green energy-powered data center operations in the region.
Lamas, an electrical engineer with more than two decades of experience in infrastructure and energy projects, previously held leadership roles at Bitfarms Ltd., where he oversaw large-scale technical initiatives across Latin America.
He has also worked with Paraguay’s national utility, ANDE, managing energy demand forecasting and grid optimization.
Lamas’ appointment follows HIVE’s recent acquisition of Bitfarms’ assets in Paraguay.
"As we become the largest private electricity consumer from ANDE, HIVE will play a vital role in generating a steady stream of US dollar-denominated revenue for the government," said Frank Holmes, HIVE’s executive chairman. "Gabriel’s ability to execute and lead will be instrumental in ensuring our operations thrive while contributing positively to the local economy."
HIVE CEO Aydin Kilic added that Lamas’ experience in power infrastructure and data centers makes him the ideal choice to lead the company’s expansion in the country.

HIVE Digital Technologies, which focuses on blockchain infrastructure powered by renewable energy, sees Lamas' leadership as a key driver for its growth in Paraguay as it looks to expand operations into 2025 and beyond.
