Quantum Base Holdings, a company with patented technology to ensure the authenticity of products, has announced its intention to float on London’s AIM market next month.
It will be raising between £3 million and £5 million in the process, with the new funds earmarked for product development and to support an expansion of its commercial teams.
The company is a spin-out from Lancaster University as a means to commercialise Professor Robert Young's discoveries in the field of quantum physics.
The firm’s products are described as “near unbreakable and non-replicable authenticity tags”, which can be authenticated via smartphone and promise to significantly mitigate counterfeiting.
“As the first innovation of its kind to be easily integrated with the most common printing methods and quickly authenticated with a smartphone, it has been vital for us to maintain independence and credibility so that we can grow our solution in a sustainable manner,” chief executive Tom Taylor said in a statement.
“We believe that floating on AIM will provide us with this independence, whilst also enabling us to leverage access to a world-leading market and potential investor base.”
Taylor added: “As a UK-based company and a British scientific success story, floating in London was the obvious choice for us.”
