X outages caused by cyberattack, Elon Musk says

The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, is currently experiencing a cyberattack according to its owner Elon Musk.

Outages were first reported at about 5.30am Eastern Time on Monday, with more than 20,000 users impacted. This reached 40,000 users impacted at about 9.30am.

Users, which appeared to be concentrated along the US coasts, reported being unable to log in or post content.

In a post on X at 1.25pm, Musk addressed the outages, stating: "There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X.

“We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing...,” he wrote.
