Polarean Imaging PLC (AIM:POLX, OTC:PLLWF) has successfully expanded its new imaging service model by securing a deal to expand its Xenon MRI imaging platform into pharmaceutical research, marking a big step forward for the company.
An unnamed leading global pharmaceutical firm has chosen Polarean’s technology for a multicentre clinical trial, testing an investigational lung treatment. The trial will use Xenon MRI to assess how the new therapy affects lung function, providing detailed insights into ventilation and gas exchange.
Polarean’s partnership with VIDA Diagnostics has helped establish a dedicated imaging services platform for pharmaceutical research.
This platform ensures high-quality imaging, streamlining drug trials and potentially reducing the number of patients needed or speeding up the approval process.
The new service model builds on Polarean’s previous work with industry partners, where Xenon MRI was used to evaluate inhaled drug delivery.

Unlike traditional lung function tests, Xenon MRI offers a detailed, non-invasive view of how well the lungs are working, using a single breath of hyperpolarised gas.
The new pharma-backed study, set to start in late 2025, will involve patients in the US and Canada, with scans taken before and after treatment to measure its effects.
