Nasdaq Inc (NASDAQ:NDAQ) is looking into implementing 24-hour trading Monday through Friday, president Tal Cohen revealed on Friday.
In a post on LinkedIn, Cohen said Nasdaq has begun engaging with regulators and other key stakeholders regarding enabling 24-hour trading five days a week on its main stock exchange, the Nasdaq Stock Market.
This would enhance investor access across different time zones.
“As the industry considers the growing interest in 24-hour trading, we stand at yet another pivotal moment – one that has the potential to broaden investor access, expand wealth-building opportunities, and redefine how markets function,” Cohen wrote on LinkedIn.
Pending regulatory approval, it is expected this could be implemented in the second half of 2026.
Nasdaq joins other exchanges like Cboe Global Markets and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) in planning extended trading hours. The NYSE aims for 22 hours of trading, while Cboe also plans 24-hour trading.
