Nano One Materials Corp (TSX:NANO, OTC:NNOMF) has announced changes to its technology leadership team.
After nearly a decade as chief technology officer (CTO), Dr Stephen Campbell will be retiring from the role at the end of June.
Campbell will remain involved with the company, taking on a part-time position managing Nano One’s intellectual property (IP) portfolio starting in July. He will work alongside board member and patent specialist Dr Joseph Guy to protect and strengthen the company’s patents as Nano One scales its operations.
"I would like to thank Stephen for a decade of exemplary technical leadership and contributions as CTO, for the smooth transition with Guoxian, and for continuing his important duties managing our portfolio of IP,” Nano One CEO Dan Blondal said in a statement.
“Stephen has played a vital role in creating shareholder value and technology advancements that include the innovative One-Pot Process, world-leading sulfate-free chemistry, and 50 patents granted in key jurisdictions around the globe.”
Campbell added: “We have a world-class team, and I am confident as I prepare for semi-retirement, that Nano One's technology is in very capable hands for the transition to production, licensing and growth.”
Dr Guoxian Liang will take over day-to-day leadership of Nano One’s research and development.
He brings 19 years of battery industry experience, having led the first large-scale commercialization of LFP at Phostech Lithium, managed high-nickel cathode programs at Johnson Matthey, and supported advanced battery development at Rivian.
Liang has worked closely with the company’s Québec-based team. He joined the Burnaby office part-time in early 2024 before transitioning to a full-time role as senior vice president of technology on March 3.
