T Stamp Inc (NASDAQ:IDAI, EURONEXT:AIID), doing business as Trust Stamp, announced that it has been awarded the D-seal certification for IT security and responsible data usage.
The D-seal is the first certification to integrate IT security and responsible data usage under a single label, ensuring that organizations meet the highest ethical and security standards.
"Receiving the D-seal certification underscores our commitment to security, privacy, and ethical data practices—values that are deeply embedded in our mission to break the cycle of vendor lock-in,” Trust Stamp group chief technology officer Scott Francis said in a statement.
“The D-seal’s emphasis on IT security and responsible data usage aligns with our approach to interoperability, ensuring that identity solutions remain secure, privacy-preserving, but also interoperable.”
Francis emphasized the importance of interoperability in facial biometrics.
“As interoperability in facial biometrics is non-existent today our recent patent addresses that gap, as it allows users to obtain and compare biometric samples across different vendors,” Francis said. “By creating an open-format standard, we empower organizations to implement secure and scalable identity solutions.”
The company also believes adhering to the values of D-seal including IT security, privacy, and responsible data usage could result in a transformation within the humanitarian sector.
Traditionally, this sector has focused more on efficiency and fraud prevention than on privacy, frequently gathering and storing large volumes of biometric data without sufficient protection. This has led to heightened risks of data breaches, misuse, and unintended surveillance for vulnerable populations.
