E3 Lithium Ltd (OTCQX:EEMMF) (TSXV:ETL) CEO Chris Doornbos talked with Proactive's Angela Harmantas from the PDAC conference in Toronto about the company’s progress in developing its lithium brine assets in Alberta. Doornbos highlighted that E3 Lithium is one of the most advanced lithium developers in Western Canada and aims to be one of the first to market with a commercial product.
He explained that the company is repurposing an oilfield asset discovered in 1947 to extract lithium from the brine left behind. The project is moving into its final stages of development, with a focus on constructing a commercial demonstration facility to produce battery-grade lithium carbonate.
Doornbos noted that E3 Lithium has opted to produce lithium carbonate rather than hydroxide due to shifting market demand and cost efficiencies. He pointed out that carbonate-based batteries are becoming more prevalent, which supports the company’s strategy. Additionally, this approach lowers capital costs and accelerates project timelines.
With a large asset base and expansion potential, E3 Lithium is positioned to supply the North American and European markets. The company expects to complete its feasibility study and receive permits by mid-2026, paving the way for construction and eventual production.
