Sun Summit Minerals Corp (OTCQB:SMREF)(TSXV:SMN) CEO Niel Marotta talked with Proactive's Angela Harmantas from the PDAC conference in Toronto about the company’s exploration plans and vision for growth. Marotta, who recently took the helm, shared insights on why he joined Sun Summit, citing his bullish outlook on gold and undervaluation in the junior mining sector.
The company’s primary focus for 2025 is the J.D. Project in British Columbia, a large gold-silver epithermal system with copper-gold porphyry potential. Marotta highlighted upcoming shallow and deep drilling efforts targeting key zones, including Creek and Fen, with an initial resource estimate expected in 2026.
Sun Summit recently published a resource estimate of 1.8 million ounces on another project in central B.C. but remains focused on advancing J.D. Marotta noted that the company currently holds just under $2 million in cash, with a minimum spend of $3 million required for the year. He emphasized growing investor interest in the district, positioning the company for potential partnerships and expansion.
Looking ahead, Marotta expressed confidence in identifying a multi-million-ounce gold deposit, which could significantly revalue Sun Summit’s market capitalization. “If we do that, our market cap, currently around $12 million, should be closer to that of our neighbors at $150 million plus,” he stated.
